When $200 beats $1600
If anyone wants to take nice looking video of their lights I have a solution. Today I picked up a small FlipVideo minoHD video camera and I must say I'm blown away with the results. How good is this $200 video camera? It blew my $1600 HD Canon and $3200 SD camcorders away. Better color saturation, better night resolution, and never had to focus.
Simply point and shoot and it did the rest. As I said I'm stunned. Wow is all I can say.
To see a sample go to http://holidayroadlights.com/gallery.html then click on "Test Video". The video was shot in HD, but I shrank it down to video streaming size.
The video does not have audio (yes the camera has mic) and it's only showing about 60% of the lights for my house. I also have a lot more wireframes that are just not lit and/or up. This was just raw footage for testing the camera and I was just doing some pattern generation and flashing to see it it could keep up.
Here is a link to the camera: http://www.theflip.com/en-us/
I will be posting video of all 14 house so far Friday night.

Check Wal Mart online, we bought one for our daughter and it was much cheaper there. They are a amazing little machine.

I hope the Ultra HD is as good as the Mino - I just ordered it from Walmart online.
The Ultra has a bigger screen and 4GB more memory (2hrs vs 1hr). If you buy it from Walmart.com, you can get it for $165. For $189 it comes with 2 bonus items as a bundle (I picked the extra battery and the wall charger). Shipping was around $11, so this bundle is $30 more than the Best Buy Mino Camera Only (at $169 + free shipping).

Keep an eye open on Woot. I got mine there refurbished at a huge discount on the regular price. Matter of fact they are having a woot-off today so it may come up.
