Did you know?
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  1. First year with LOR

Well my first year turned out pretty good. No real issues with the lights or controllers. I had 2yars to put this together due to missing 2016 Christmas in Afghanistan but I think it turned out pretty good. Here is one video and a link to my YouTube channel if you want to see more. I really need to work on my videos they didn't turn out as good as I wanted (I guess I shouldn't wait till the last night to record something). https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJAoYbbRfsqTwAslK42UyZQ
  2. LOR and Cat5

Ok,I have a big problem with my controllers--for the second time this season. Twice I've had to replace CAT5 ,with brand new cables--both in the exact same box and position. That suggests to me that the problem is with the RJ45 jack in the Showtime controller(3rd Generation) What says the mob?

  5. CCR Backlight Issue

Has any user of the CCR tree had any issues with items behind the tree being illuminated. Does this tree need to have a very dark BACKGROUND to be effective. I see some decorators are draping black plastic or plywood behind their tree. Is this necessary? Thanks to all comments in advance!
  6. CCR Backlight Issue

Has any user of the CCR tree had any color with items behind the tree being illuminated. Does this tree need to have a very dark BACKGROUND to be effective. I see some decorator are draping black plastic or plywood behind their tree. Is this necessary. Thanks to all comments in advance!
  7. Hi, I purchased some pre-made sequences from holidaysequences.com I have standard LOR SuperStar (not Xlights or something else) program. I am running just 12 CCRs and a 6 channel star. I have the controller set-up working and running an older show (on an older version of software), so I know it has something to so with my updated software. I have asked Holidaysequences.com and just hadn't heard from them yet, but I was hoping someone might be able to suggest a video on youtube or have some simple directions on what to do after i downloaded the file and hopefully all of the way to creating a show. I searched the LOR website and well it is a bit overwhelming and haven't found specifically what I was looking for and I am hoping someone out there might just have what (hopefully) is just the simple info I need. Thanks in advance! Craig
  8. Hi! I am fairly new to LOR and I bought a 12 CCR display a few years back. I have yet to start designing on my own, but I have purchased a few new sequences this year. My problem is that I have got the sequences in Sequence Editor, and when I go to add the media file from my hard drive that I downloaded it to, the whole program locks up at "analyzing media"! I have been able to merge a few songs and sequences, but not all that I have bought. I can hear my songs when I play them independently, but the program won't progress past the first 1/3 of the little progress bar. Is Windows 10 an issue? Any help would be appreciated ! Craig
  9. Dead Channel?

Hello all! At the end of last year, I noticed that one of my channels (channel 2) would not turn on and is always off. I didn't think much of it (silly me!) and set the controller up in the yard again this year. The channel still doesn't work. I can't get it to turn on. I know people have triac issues, and can't get theirs to turn OFF. I reset the board today, and still no luck. Any ideas? I don't have a large load on it-only 1 strand of C6 LED lights. Thanks!
  10. CCB Arches

I'm just sharing this in case you want to read it. I am adding two larger arches to my display this year. After countless evenings viewing the light show last year, It was decided to add CCB arches on the right side of my show. I purchased four ten foot pieces of 1" pvc (THIN WALL 200PSI stuff) at Lowe's. Home Depot did not carry it in my area. The thin wall stuff is more flexible. I glued a one inch UNION on the pipe ends so I can take apart the two ten foot sections for storage. After the glue dried for a day, I attached two sections together for 20 feet. I hammered, three foot rebar, 3/8", into the ground vertically (plum). I placed the pipe on the rebar and bent the arch over to get an idea of the distance the legs should be apart. I settled at eleven feet apart. Which gave me a seven foot high arch. I took one of my CCB LOR strands and used Holiday Coro's Bulb Mounting Strip to mount the bulbs (easy, peasy)! Then I placed the mounted bulbs at the top of the arch at the UNION, between bulb 25 and 26. I zip tied the mounted CCB's and ended up with too much pipe at either end exposed. So I cut one foot off of each end leaving one foot above the ground to the first bulb for snow and so the local dogs do not pee on my expensive bulbs. So 18 feet is the final pipe length giving an arch of six feet high, eleven feet wide. The bulbs will be mounted in a vertical or upright position and removed each year for storage. Don't want to break these babies! Good Luck with your arches. Ask any questions and have a great season!
  11. Newbie With Vixen

Hello, This is my first year doing a Christmas light show! I’m using a simple controller with 16 mechanical relays powered by Arduino and Vixen. Pretty basic, but good for this year. I have almost all my sequencing done (very time consuming :P) and the controller built. I have some questions for pros and LOR users. Next year, I would like to switch to LOR (32 channel with 1 CCR Tree). Do you think LOR is worth it (during summer and mad grab sales)? Is there a easy way to convert my Vixen sequences to LOR, and add on to them? Is LOR easier than Vixen? Also, do you think the Whole House FM Transmitter is good? I hear a lot of great things about it and I’m almost about to purchase it. Thank you so much!!!
  12. RGB HELP!!!!!!

Ok here is my problem. I just got RGB Strips and and a easypix controller, and acti dongle from holiday coro. In lor if I do fade commands the strips work perfect. If i try to do a on command the strips flicker and do not come on in the right color. Also if i try to make a color like orange the strips also fliker in odd colors. Any Suggestions?
  13. Uprgaded to S4 Now Pixels to not work.

Ok folks, everything has been great is LOR S3 with my pixels. I upgraded to S4 Now the pixels do not work. Any Suggestions?
  14. The new tool in the set for 2016 is SharpIn. For LOR visualizer you can zoom in to get a closer look and move those tiny dots around. There are tools to align your props with perfectly spaced and straight lines and curved lines. No more jaggies. Down load here along with SpEx for Audio and Marquee for moving text. This is the first video in the set.
  15. Hey gang! Has anybody figured out how to use raspberry pi in conjunction with light o Rama?
  16. Just for a little history about my system. I have a full LOR system which has 19 controllers consisting of CCR's, LOR1602W's, CTB16PC's, CMB16D, CMB24D. I currently run about 13 songs throughout the entire Christmas show. It runs on a single standard network running off of a serial RS485 adapter. (I did recently purchase the USB-RS485 adapter but didn't get it utilized last year). I also purchased a PixCon16 card which I hope to move into pixels next year which is another issue (#3 below). I understand (I think) the video mapping technique itself so I really don't need help there on that. Any way, I'm interested in including a video in my next years show sequences so I have the following questions: Is it possible to incorporate a video within existing sequences (meaning I would still have my 13 songs and then also the video synced to the lights as an additional sequence). What or how can I incorporate this video into the shows: I mean, how would I trigger the video to the projector for the sequence to play? What kind of hardware would I need to do this (other than the projector which I've been reading up on recommended projectors for this). So how do I trigger the start of the video, what is needed to hold the video to send to projector. And if needed, how do I wire this up to make it work? Any recommendations on how to get my network signals from inside my house to outside to the shows? The base LOR network I planned on leaving as it is (I do have one network cable running outside but really can't add any more the same way so if there are other means of doing it that would work I would appreciate hearing them. The PixCon16 card I had planned on running on a single E1.31 network cable but I'm looking for ideas on trying to figure out how to get the signal outside. I'm sorry there are a lot of questions here but I figured I should start out early to get my learning curve down before next year. I appreciate any information I can get.

  19. I have been a AL customer (48 channels/ 15000 lights) for the last three years. I must say I have loved the product and for the first two years have recommended it highly to anyone who would ask. After Christmas this year I have decided to sell my AL system and start over with LOR. If anyone would care to take the time and share with me anything that might sway my decision in any direction I would definately appreciate it. You can do this by PM if you want.... Thanks...Kevin Jones will be selling: 1 - ELD-30 controller 2 - ELC-15 controllers 1 - Monster Brain
  20. Lor Questions That I Can't Seem To Find

I know there is alot of People out there already with LOr controllers i know my question should be out there somewhere but hers the situation I do not have LOR but i need to kow the Length of the Plugs coming out from the control Box - i am building a small shed like structure on the side of my house where i can run a whole dedicated power source from my fuse panel in the shed will be a normal outside 4 way plug i know the height i got to make that but i would like to know how long the wires are so i know how high i got to make the roof to this little shed where LOr and power will be locked up when in and out of useand so i can keep all the extension cords tucked away in
  21. Auto-sequencing

Spent a couple hours this weekend playing with SuperStar's autosequencer. I don't have any RGB lights (yet) and was told SuperStar would autosequence regular lights. The video below shows that you can have a sequence up and running in less than 5 minutes. Video of process of auto-sequencing a song: The finished product:
  22. I just figured out how to do the Shimmer/Fade - like if I wanted to shimmer out on a song and it fade into the distance. Yeah, well found it TOTALLY by accident. Albeit, this is only my second year doing this - and I have a rinky dink little show - I am still friggen ESTATIC!! ALL SHOWS ARE BEING REARANGED TO SHIMMER FADE. It will be like American Idol, all songs end in one big note. Shimmer/twinkle/fade is my big note. If anyone else is a dope and can't figure out how to do it, it's a "custom" thing. Go to the tool bar, change up your custom settings, and voila! This was totally worth taking a vacation day for.
  23. Lor Show Editor

Question: I have all my musical sequences ready to go for this years Christmas Show and I have loaded them in the order I want them to play in the show editor. Here is my question. I have 6 songs in my show and I want the show to play every 30 minutes. When the show is not playing i have an animation sequence I want to play, but I do not want the animation sequence to run in the background during the show. How do I schedule the show to play ever 30 minutes, and when the show is not playing have my animation sequence run? Thank you in advance.
