Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    Super Star Lights Important Question

I understand where you’re coming from. However, there are a lot of people around these forums who sell sequences. My understanding is some sell the sequences with the mp3 file and some do not. Each sequence has to be specific to the song it’s intended for, otherwise it wouldn’t make much sense in our displays. As long as they aren’t selling your mp3 with the sequence I think its fine. But like you said, I too have a problem with people trying to make money off of your song. In that case, they should pay a licensing fee. I understand what most musicians go through in their careers and that it’s not an easy life.
  3. Yes, from what I understand, Buddy sold out a few years ago.

Thank you! From what I heard that's the way the small Nativity set was shipped from the factory. You had to drill your own holes. Not sure why Empire didn't just put holes in them in the first place.

This is what to do about your Church. From time to time you'll see on ebay, as I have, a full set of window frames, plus the stained glass window inserts and the cross. Just keep checking there and I"m sure you'll come across them eventually. 10 bucks is a great price for the Empire Church. I say go for it. I hope this helps!

Thank you! I'm sorry to hear that. I just took a look at your profile. If you're wanting that one, I would talk with Carrie and see if she happens to know about where one is for sale in your area.

Thank you Gary! Thanks for the information on the candles. I have some flame bulbs. So that's what I'll put in them this year.

    Christmas Items From Auction

Hello everyone, Sorry I haven’t posted over here in forever. I just thought I’d share some pictures of what I was able to get today at a local auction. Since this is the Blowmold section of the Forums I wanted to keep it mostly to things made of plastic that I got. The other things I was able to get were a box of Shiny Brite ornaments, a light for a silver Christmas tree, some C-9 light sets, some mini flower lights sets just to name a few. Here are some pictures for you guys. The small Nativity set doesn’t have any holes in it. Did it come that way from the factory? Also, the two smaller candles were made by Empire. Do they have flame tops that should have came with them? I also got some plastic bells as well. I believe they were made by NOMA but I’m not sure. And if anyone would happen to have any information on the tree, any information would be appreciated. It's a little over 12 inches tall and is made out of plastic. It doesn't light up. I just thought I would ask in case someone might have an answer for me. Thanks for the help in advance. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures. (I haven't posted pictures over here since the new switch over. Why are my pictures so big compared to the way the pictures used to be using the old forms?Or is that just the way things post now? I didn't mean to post such big pictures.)
