Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Vendors that sell M5 LED strings with Quick Connect ends?

I think the connectors that you are talking about are on the commercial strings, try looking for vendors that also sell a commercial line of lights. Winterland is one that does. http://store.winterlandinc.com/Comm-Grade-LED-Holiday-Lights_c_2501.html

    Is this a good Buy

Randy, the wire looks to be a good buy, the plugs are the same ones I have used for years without any problems, but they were priced at $45.98 per 100 with free shipping last year, $16.98 per 25 is a little high, CDI has them for $5.60 per pk of 10. The thing to watch out for is the shipping, even though the vendors may be cheaper, if you add the shipping then the HD plugs may be cheaper overall.

    SPT-W Wire

I have not seen SPT-1W used for SPT wire, but I checked and The "W" in the SPT-1W indicates that this wire has been engineered for outdoor use and can be used in all weather conditions. In Canada that may be what you need due to the weather conditions, most people just use plain SPT-1 or SPT-2.

2017 HLE Pre Sale is Live

Made a list of the lights I needed for next year, ordered them from HLE, and they were shipped all in the same day. Now that is what I call service. Earle

    LED's messing with eyes

You may want to check with hotrod1965 when the pre-sales start, I think the big box stores prices (current) and the HLE pre sales will be about the same or very little difference, well worth the extra money.
  12. HoosierSteve, can you give me a cost for 10 strings of the c6 red led sent to Ocala, Fl.

P.S. my home town is Greencastle, In.

    LED comparison, anyone?

I don't think you can go wrong with HLE lights. They have sales and pre-sales with good prices and they stand behind them, I have had very little problems, about half of my 40,000 lights are HLE. Also I think ALL Christmas are made in CHINA.

    Central Florida Mini

After 30 days,166 views and few replies I assume that there is NO interest in a MINI in Central Florida or at least in Ocala. I can only say that I tried to offer a host site that would easy to get to and have room for all that wanted to attend. I have no futher interest in hosting the MINI as of this date. Thank You Earle
