Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

I bought all these last year to use in our display and never got around to adding them. The pixels are brand new. They come in bags of 10 strings(50 pixels per string) and the one bag was only opened to get a good picture of the nodes. They are 5v WS2811 IP68 and I included a bunch of pictures here... https://photos.app.goo.gl/nhSZfPGqqDR6xLet7 The SanDevices E682 controller is fully assembled in a CableGuard CG-1500 enclosure. It includes a 60A 5v power supply mounted on a power supply kit from HolidayCoro.com. There are pictures of the controller here... https://photos.app.goo.gl/CZFDJFH1n8Jin67A7 I'd like to get $75 per 500 pixels and $200 for the controller/power supply/enclosure. If you buy everything I'd drop the price to $325. Prices do NOT include shipping BUT I'll pick up half the actual shipping costs. If you have any questions or want a picture of something let me know.

HLE C6 70 count LED - unused in the box

Dang. Wish these were the M6 style. I'd make an offer on the rest of the red strands then. Good luck on the hip replacement.

Post up all you New Yorkers!

Gotta say, you are starting it off right by planning this early. And having the family behind you will go a long way. Good luck, Jeff

    Our 2010 Christmas Lights.

Finally uploaded more videos. They were all taken with our FujiFilm still camera this year due to my laziness. It's just so easy to point, shoot, and edit with this camera I can't justify getting the "good" camera out. Is your display up and running yet? The in-laws live down that way and we've swung by a few times. The kiddos love all your blowups and yard items. -Jeff

    Our 2010 Christmas Lights.

We had a couple inches of snow last night so I figured I'd take some pictures of the display. I'm hopeful to get a video or two done tonight since the snow really helps make the colors pop when recording... but who knows. http://www.mainelights.org/Christmas2010Daylight/ Happy Holidays, Jeff

    Consensus on LED Strobes

Yep, that's what you do. You can play around with the intensity and time also. I think I settled on 17% or 18% for .75s with mine. The one nice thing about LED strobes is you can get them all to flash in unison if you want a really big "flash". I love 'em.

    How to anchor mega tree?

Just wanted to thank you for the link. I ended up ordering a few 40" long, 4" round earth anchors yesterday and they already showed up this morning. These things are monsters! Thanks again.

    Its time!!?

I'll second this! Last year was really windy here, so much so it seemed like I was either raising or lowering the two mega-trees daily. I'm hoping to work on our window wreaths, icicle lights, and snowflake trails this weekend/week.

    Its time!!?

Figured I'd bump this back to the top since... "It's Time!!!" My 8 year old daughter and I have been testing lights and repairing some of our 5' trees for a couple weeks here and today I got a jump on the roof lights.
