Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Oregon Forum needs some adrenaline !

All up and running here in Hillsboro. Added lots of new stuff this year along with moving the whole show over to LOR from Animated Lighting. Here's a link to the video of the opening song along with a voice over from The Demented Elf. Sad to hear this is his last year of doing voice overs. Made sure I got a bunch of fresh ones before he went :). Merry Christmas everyone.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgeGg976gj0

    LED Lawnlights

Was looking at maybe adding these LED lawnlights to my display next year. http://www.lawnlights.com/ Anybody using the LED version and if so how do you like them? Would be nice if they could be dimmed but doesn't look like they do that yet. Thanks, Paul

lights / LEDs on the car?

Did this one year for a Night Christmas parade. Used led lights with a battery and inverter and a Mr Christmas music machine. Had a great time although I felt a little like an ice cream truck. Paul

    Anybody here ?

ripbme, You should have rang the bell, chatted with Darin Miller and his wife who dropped by tonight as well. Could have had a party . The Demented Elf does the voice overs and I can't say enough good things about him. There is just something about Kevins voice that makes think of Christmas now. The Yellow Snow song was new this year along with Miracle on 34th Street and I'll be Home for Christmas. Merry Christmas Paul

    Any luck so far?

Mike I did a drive by last night of your display and must say the video doesn't do it justice (but they never do). It really looked great, it looked like the candels in the windows were on the inside of the house, man you must be the master of cable management because I know what kind of a rats nest I have with cable just by doing just the outside. You have a nice selection of songs as well. You had some star lights in the two trees by the street. Do you remember where you got them? I have a tree that I think they would look nice in for next year maybe. Your whole neighborhood there did a nice job of decorating but yours definitely stood out. Good Job! Merry Christmas Paul

    Any luck so far?

I like it! Man that has got to be one of the biggest arches I've seen yet it's like a mega arch . How many channels are on that arch it has a very smooth look to it. Very cool display.. Merry Christmas Paul
  13. Thought I would pass this along for everyone. My wife and I were out driving around and found out that Storybook Lane out in Dilley is starting up the 15th and going through the 25th. Dilley is just South of Forest Grove. It's a great spot to take the kids. Here is a link with directions at the bottom of the article. http://www.katu.com/entertainment/12524436.html Merry Christmas Paul

    Any luck so far?

Mike, Thanks for the heads up. I don't know what is going wrong it with it but I did add my address to the directions page. I was by Darin's place last night and it looked great. I've been trying to get out more this year myself and look at different displays. Seems like there are more people decorating this year than in the past and have seen some really well done homes. Checked out your videos and your display looks GREAT. How did you get the red lights around the windows to rotate, 2 channels per window? Looked very cool. Pass your address to me as well, I'll put your place on my list. Paul

    Any luck so far?

Well I'm up and going and so far things have been going great. I've been getting quiet a few cars stopping and checking out a song or two. I'm running about 12 different songs a night and have a total of 23 songs so I can mix it up a bit after a while. It's been great having such nice weather the pass few nights, hope it continues to be like this for a while. Merry Christmas Paul
