Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    Mechanical New years Ball

LOL, I have it posted in L.O.R. already, just thought I could get some different help here. What are you trying to say, I'm not a newbie?? I'm not, I've been doing this for 13 years, obviously
  2. thanks ernie, I hooked up to relay again and this time it's working properly, I have not hooked it into L.O.R. yet , but I will and hopefully it will work fine then too thanks for your help Aj
  3. i never actually had it hooked up to l.o.r., it was just hooked up to the wall unit push button thing that is wired to the garage door opener, and i know i had it wired up right with no current, but why would that make the wires think that it was a closed circuit?? its just 2 low voltage wires red and white, does that make sense?

    Mechanical New years Ball

Hi all, My name is Aaron and I have been decorating for 12 yrs now, I have a unique problem and I hope you all can tell me a simple answer, I built a replica of the new years ball in times square, andI have a garage door opener I plan on using to motorized it, I only have a week to figure out how to trigger the mechanism using L.O.R., Can you help me?? any time I attach any type of relay or transformer the opener automatically thinks its a closed circuit and operates the door opener, so that doesn't work for me... I was thinking of something in the lines of a mechanical arm, but how to trigger it using L.O.R.?
  5. I have a omron my4 relay, i hooked it up and i know it was an open circuit and had no voltage going to it, and the opener activated anyway, what am i doing wrong? it wasn't even plugged in!!!
