Did you know?
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

Collection of blow molds, wire sculptures, and 30k lights. Just bought a corner lot house for the reason of decorating for Christmas.

Good to hear. Just be diligent on the checkups afterwards.
  2. Great Day

Nice. 20s and snow here. Still have my lights up from Christmas
  3. Did Everybody Quit PC?

Just joined this past fall and enjoy coming on here once or twice a week to see updates and info
  4. Yesteryear....

Interesting. Same mold for Mary and Joseph for the last 58 years
  5. Prayers needed

Hope everything goes smooth and he gets better
  6. 2018 Valentines Day display

Very unique. Looks nice. Not many do Valentines decorations
  7. Craigs List and Ebay

    Wow. Wonder who bought them.
  8. Roof Frame

It’s heavy but nothing that will break the steel cable. Mine survived 40 mph winds multiple nights.
  9. Roof Frame

Same here. Steel cable. Mine were from tree to tree though but held up fine.
  10. GFP Closing

Even the empire plastic was better quality than general foam. Big difference if you put the 2 together and light it up. Really shows on the white in the snowman. Still didn’t deter me from buying their product but it could have been made with much better quality
  11. Didn’t think they made those but google search and amazon sells them
  12. Craigs List and Ebay

Maybe I’ll head down there soon with cash in hand and tell him I want to spend the money here but it’s not all or nothing. Only a little over an hour away so maybe I can pester him to separate.
  13. Craigs List and Ebay

Totally agree. I’d pay 30, 40, or 50 dollars for certain blow molds but not taking all or nothing. Seems like he just wants someone to get it off his hands and take it all but for the right price. If you find out more, or they cave in and allow people to buy separate, let me know. I"ll take a ride down there and spend a bit of money.
  14. Craigs List and Ebay

Did he say if he would separate or does it have to be the whole thing? I’d like to run down there on my day off and look at everything but no way I’d buy the whole lot. Especially for 15k.
  15. What goes down must go up!

Took 3 hours to get all the blow molds (130) unplugged and put away. Not a big problem pulling them from a frozen ground. Worst part was digging for the plugs in the rock hard snow. Anything staked to the ground along with all the wood stakes for the blow molds is gonna be there till it thaws. Can’t get them out. Lucky to have 30 degree temps to work on this right now. 15k lights left to get taken down still.
