Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    Info?

I found 2 similar blow molded pumpkin baskets at a yard sale today, but there is no maker stamp. They seem fairly old, and one looks to have something that holds a battery. I looked on blow-molded.com and I didn't find them. Info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Looking for parts to a Gemmy Life Size Santa

Gemmy doesn't produce these Santa's anymore so no chance from them. I can try eBay I guess. Thanks
  4. I finally figured out why my 2003 Gemmy santa doesn't dance. The previous owner plugged in an adapter with too much voltage and it made a capacitor and another component completely EXPLODE. I'm wondering if any one has a new circuit board or components and dancing gear box they'd sell

Help Identifying a Harold Gale Santa

Today at a yard sale I found a whole bunch of Christmas Cutouts, lights, and some other stuff for other holdays all for FREE. But what really tops it off is I found a Harold Gale Animated Santa. I don't know much about them so I'm hoping someone can help me identify the model and year on it

I just got the 2004 Gemmy Life Size Santa in the mail and guess what....Split Gear LOL. I replaced it with a gear from the other that doesn't dance and now he works perfectly

    Gemmy Santa Help.

Yeah, I decided not to mess with the circutry and chose to leave the Santa "non-dancing", so I ordered a 2004 version from Ebay, but it needs a new "O-ring" for the dancing. And oh yeah, The split gears are really a pain. I've had to replace gears in at least 15 Gemmy Items

Blow mold Nativity Custom Paint Job?

I made a paint plan for the nativity I might change a few colors before painting, and where I paint, but I guess it's just a rough prototype design

Blow mold Nativity Custom Paint Job?

Update: I bought them for $38 in all, not too bad, better than $59 I haven't full on painted either, I'm going to practice with milk jugs with a C7 first, and get the technique down. hopefully I can start them in the spring so I can warm them up before painting. And yes, I'll take pics along the way . Maybe if I like the way they turn out I'll repaint my 18" Poloron Nativity set as well.

Oops, I accidently submitted the topic twice

So i'm thinking about getting the Pearl GFP Blow mold nativity set from Menards because it's on sale. I'm not big on plain white blow molds so i'm thinking about giving it a custom paint job. What do you think?
