Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

I was going though some boxes of Halloween items I got last fall at GFC in Norfolk. I found that one of the bats in the box had the formula on the back of it.

What’s funny is that they had some samples blow mold there. But I was more focused on the items I had on my wish list. I was overload with all the blow molds, Christmas trees, and blow molds I had only seen in old catalogs. All the samples I saw did not come with light cords and most were odd colors or mixes of colors. If I have thought about it I would have pick some up. Also, I could not believe the great deals. It was the only trip I been on where I had to rent a U-haul trailer to take everything back to Atlanta. I wish I had planned more than a day at the GFC.
  4. Noma did make Halloween lights. Attached below are some from 1930 with cloth wiring and some from 1960.

    Hanging with My Peeps

What is a good way of putting a 120V light set in a peep? The whole in the back is 1/2" larger than the standard GF light set. Attached are some pictures. Richard last year the Cracker Barrel near Atlanta had a shipper store display rack last Easter.

The large Aluminum mold are used in the mold machine like #24 or #28 (Milacron) in the above flyer. Hears a link to a YouTube using a large blow mold machine that is very similar.

Below are some pictures, I bought a bunch of big wheels and bowling pin sets. For the kids in the family birthdays and for toys for tots. The Big Wheel in the picture was made at the plant except for the metal pins and the lady at the plant said those parts were made at their factory in China. The sleds were made at the plant. They had large sleds and small one. I should have gotten some of the large sleds. The bowling pin set was also made at the plant. The last picture shows the large sleds (blue and red) they are right behind the kids pools. The small sled were behind the large ones

I was at the Norfolk Plant on Oct 26. The ladies at the plant said they had a buyer for the Halloween pale molds from Michigan. They also used a large part of the warehouse to store pond liners and other things for their sister company Beckett Corp. I got a small tour of the plant from a gentleman that worked at the plant for over 30 years. He showed me around and said he had made the last blow mold on Oct 13,2017. The four workers I talked to had all worked at the plant for over 30+years each. I just hope they were all able to find good paying work. Attached are some pictures.
