Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    Snowfall lights

I was looking before for these myself. I found these but I am not sure if they are what you are looking for. There was another company I was looking at a few years ago that sold them but they went out of business. They have other colors as well. https://store.winterlandinc.com/Set-of-5-Pure-White-LED-Snowfall-Strings_p_17034.html# Tom

Reliable C7 or C9 LED Lights

I was in the same boat a few years ago with the store bought [ Home depot. Lowes, Walmart, Hobby Lobby,] C9 LED strings with not being bright enough and having to constantly fix them. I had about 10 strings that year fail. I got so sick of it that the following year I spent the extra money on pro grade light strings and retrofit bulbs. 4 years now and very happy, have not had one fail yet and they are plenty bright. I still use Walmart mini lights for some things only because the after Christmas sales are very cheap. Tom

  10. I just saved these from being taken to the dump. There was more but I did not find out about them until some were already taken to the dump from an estate sale. They are in excellent condition for how old they are. The clear coat has yellowed over the years. After some research and speaking to the neighbor next door to the estate sale these were made some time around 1960 as he recalled. They are the Douglas Fir Plywood Association patterns that came out in 1957. It was poster paper that you glued to plywood and then clear coat it. The Santa, sleigh and reindeer are from the Douglas Fir Plywood Association promotion. I have 2 camels, one with a wise man on it that was the only pieces left from the nativity scene the estate had. The neighbor told me that there was at least 10 more pieces that were sent to the dump that the family did not want. These look like the ones from U-bild but the neighbor told me that they were made around 1960 also so not sure about them. I wish I could have saved the rest. These will be in my display this year. These are all 5 to 6 feet tall pieces. Tom

  15. A little more info would be helpful like a price. Also what generation is it? I see a red LED so it is a Gen 1 or 2. Please post more. Thanks Tom
