Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Controllers that old are going for $100 to $125. Unless you put them on Ebay. You will get a little more on there because people fight over them. Tom

Wow, those sound like the old blue boards. Were they the solder kits or were the boards already assembled and you just added the cords? How much are you asking for them? Tom

Not many people on here lately. Need more information about your controllers like what generation are they. Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3? How old are they? More information the better. Tom

  5. I just saved these from being taken to the dump. There was more but I did not find out about them until some were already taken to the dump from an estate sale. They are in excellent condition for how old they are. The clear coat has yellowed over the years. After some research and speaking to the neighbor next door to the estate sale these were made some time around 1960 as he recalled. They are the Douglas Fir Plywood Association patterns that came out in 1957. It was poster paper that you glued to plywood and then clear coat it. The Santa, sleigh and reindeer are from the Douglas Fir Plywood Association promotion. I have 2 camels, one with a wise man on it that was the only pieces left from the nativity scene the estate had. The neighbor told me that there was at least 10 more pieces that were sent to the dump that the family did not want. These look like the ones from U-bild but the neighbor told me that they were made around 1960 also so not sure about them. I wish I could have saved the rest. These will be in my display this year. These are all 5 to 6 feet tall pieces. Tom
