Did you know?
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

Not to far from where I live.
  2. What are you adding to your Wireframe display 2017?

I have some round bar and lights laying around, I might try my hand at making a "Merry Christmas" or maybe a snow man. I don't have budget due to house repairs that I just paid for so need to use what I have for the most part.
  3. Christmas Expo 2018

There is probably something in it for you, I would go to one of them sometime. Meeting others and exchanging Ideas is fun. The only negative aspect was I found some of the DIY classes a little sketchy when the self taught person teaching, didn't know as much as they should have.
  4. I'm not sweating it, big difference between 120V AC and 12V DC. I doubt GFCI would detect anything on DC side, the DC power supply would pretty much Isolate it the way I see it. Almost like an isolation transformer in some AC power distribution systems.
  5. Pics of anyone's display progress

Start fuzzy for about 5 seconds but then cleans up.
  6. Viewing Public Say the Darndest Things

Nice family was outside looking at the lights, I told them they needed to have a radio to hear the music. The husband says "I can't believe I can't get the station streaming over the internet". I tried to explain it was just a little transmitter connected to my computer, it didn't register.
  7. Fast way to add reindeer to the roof

I would be too worried about water damage to my house to use screws.
  8. Asking to follow

I didn't know you had to ask, or you could tell if they look at your profile.
  9. Days won and Community Reputation

There, I helped your stats there Big J.
  10. New Neighbor, Seen the Display and Wants it to Stop

I had a person who lives in my neighborhood stop and thank me for the lights, her son has autism and he loves to stop watch the lights change to the music. Hearing that kind of feed back makes all the effort worth it.
  11. Pics of anyone's display progress

Best day one ever setting up. All lights up. Tomorrow is plugging everything in.
  12. Pics of anyone's display progress

My big push starts Tuesday when my help arrives. Did some of the grunt work this weekend. I got my mega pole up, and hung a leveled the new dumb RBG stars I made this year. This is a test of one of them powered by a 6 volt battery.
  13. I have not completely finished building/repairing stuff from last year, let alone start putting up lights. An out of state wedding this weekend is killing me!
  14. Christmas Expo 2018

Doubt I will make it this year.
  15. Computer for LOR

I use an ancient old desk top to run my show, do my programming on it also. If all your going to do is run your LOR on since you are a "crapple" family. I would say get anything that runs. Don't waste money on an expensive one. My two cents.
