Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    OK, Now What?

Right I was just thinking that- Big J. House has a nice vintage look- This house might be the perfect fit for the projector version of old school carolers from atmos. Would look so vintage. Throw up some blow mold candles on the all the steps. Would be cost effective and look good., I would do the windows for sure.. 2 upstairs and all the downstairs.

TY all - Apparently their is some BUYING of Votes going on.. Very sad. It's a silly news contest with no prize, just a news story. To think you would cheat on a Christmas Contest.. lord help them. The other runner up has legit followers and they are voting- but I am now hearing people are donating and buying them votes too. LOL My display has always been just a private neighborhood thing. I am not looking to be "famous for 3 mins". I have plenty of notoriety in my life already. At least this thing got me to start a facebook page for my display. And have had a lots of people commenting that they always wanted to know who is doing "that" house! Well secrets out. Thanks for all your support! Have a Wonderful Christmas to all of you!

Vinyl Siding Corner Trim Mounting (Vertical)

Glad we can help. There are more permanent solutions like broom clips/pvc pipe or lexan clips/pvc where you make the vertical string and just zip tie it to the pvc- then just pop them up into the clips. That works really well for fast setup/takedown etc. Broom clips you can paint them white and you will forget they are there. You could always silicone the broom clips up if you don't want to screw them in...then just scrape it off if you needed to remove it.
  18. Greetings all. I've decided this should be brought to the attention of anyone using LED Rope light Snowflakes. I know some members put them on their roofs. I have discovered that 2 out of my 10 flakes have had some serious burning/heat/fire hazard issues. I won't mention suppliers/manufactures because they are generic, and everyone should take the time to double check yours regardless. Especially on the roof of your homes. Look for where the wires connect to the tubes themselves. I am all for Christmas lights everywhere- but not at the expense of any family's life. Here are some images of what I've discovered on mine. This was after I noticed one of the bulbs was giving a slight flicker doing my normal inspections. On another flake, there was condensation/moisture in the tube that was actually bubbling from the heat. You can see different areas that are black in the snowflake itself where the leds were fried. Be safe out there this season. 15 mins worth of inspections might make all the difference. My family comes from a long line of firefighters, and I know how quickly things can go from nothing to total loss from a simple 40 dollar light. Hopefully mine was just a fluke batch. Thanks for your attention.
  19. Yeah for sure it doesn't hurt to check. I just go around and check my zip cords/extensions for excessive heat and what not. You never know what happens in the night. Rabbits/Deer love my display they sit and chow down on my grass in the subtle glow of the lights... To think I was going to put these on my roof this year, I can't even imagine.

Vinyl Siding Corner Trim Mounting (Vertical)

The ones from lowes are the same style I believe- I bought them last year if they are the cool white versions. Yes. just check where they make the connection to the rope light tube- Look for signs of heat/stress/or other concern. I will make a post in a little bit under A new PSA with some images.

Vinyl Siding Corner Trim Mounting (Vertical)

Binder clips for sure work and i have done it for the c9 strings but requires 2 per bulb to keep the lights pointed outward and inline with the others. It's crazy that we don't have a clip for this specific vertical application with the millions of houses being decorated. The clips on the sockets are perfect but they just break way to easily. This is another option I am going to try. Will see how they hold up.

    Holiday time inflatables

Hi welcome, I don't have inflatables in my display but did a quick search on the holiday time ho ho ho balls- LOL , Various reviews on different sites state that the bulbs are NOT replaceable at all. Hopefully one of the inflatable kings/queens can chime in and they might have a work around. Welcome aboard.

All done! 2018 Display. Happy Holidays all!

Mine either- but I cant just throw lights up anywhere- My display is kind of balanced at the moment. if i add a bunch of lets say pvc trees I don't think it will look better in a good way... It may detract from it.
