Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Looks cool. Glad you found a solution!
  3. Finally! House/Roof outlines done. Mega tree display/center area finished. Will take night shots tomorrow. Another note I am pretty sad and disappointed in these darn snowflakes... only out a week and starting showing moisture inside the led tube flakes. Hope they last the season. Nothing like throwing money down the drain.

GE Energy Smart LED C9s... made better.

I've been wrestling with the same struggle for the perfect multi-color for 3 years. The GE set pictured does look really close to original classic look. My issue for them would be price, durability, longevity, custom runs, etc. I'm not a fan of the saturated look of current LED's -but I have learned to adapt and accept it. The trade off for me is that I have had my LED's for around 4-5 years and my fail rate is almost non existent. The only issue I honestly have is yellowing from the sun on the warm white C9's. Hopefully my current setup will get me through till the perfect multi-color arrives! I've looked at the SMD ceramic style c9's as well as the classic t5's which look really good- but just not there yet. I must have filled my cart at HLE a thousand times, and couldn't commit! Hopefully they will perfect the multi-color in the coming year or two! I am certain @hotrod1965 will have us covered when that happens! He is a top notch member/vendor! This video changed my mind on the led color for sure! Amazing use of colors in the first house. It has inspired me to place a test order for my backyard! Thanks Hotrod! LOL Anyway, just my 23 cents.
  5. Todays project..strung up my 9 window wreaths. Big push to finish tomorrow.
  6. @Fodstar I will post one when I get them. Should be here Thursday. They are a trial order, if they workout I will send you the link.
  7. Thanks Fodstar! I am happy I fInally found a way to bridge the gap between my house and front island. I might add (2) simple 4 chan controllers to make them slow fade in and out. Will test that out later this week.
  8. 40% done- Figured out my new snowflake layout. Gives a great illusion when driving by. Sorry for the Shaky Video- I was tired! Still have so much to do. People around town already leaving lights on! Love it more time to enjoy the season! Cant delete this error one sorry 20181111_172726.mp4
  9. Congrats for doing it your first time and it looks fantastic by the way! I applaud your efforts on the entire process. I too love that tree ! Are you planning on leaving the lights up all year? I just caught this in the video. I sure hope that's a waterproof extension box!!
  10. sorry late to the thread- i bought 13.75" version and it came with a pole. It looked stunning but putting it up was not a fun task- The net is/was/and became a nightmare. It was tangled right out of the box. It took me over an hour to figure out that puzzle! 🤩 It held up strong throughout many nor'easters last winter with wind over 30mph. I was surprised it held up as the center poles are sections of cheap aluminum. I broke it down in one piece, rather then disassemble that nightmare again. I will be attempting to put it up this weekend. The look of the tree is without a doubt beautiful. I imagine if you get the flag pole version- it will be fine.
  11. Sweet thanks glad to hear that- I ordered them and will try them out for sure this year.
  12. Great job Big J- Love it all! I will be starting the setup in 2 hours today. I agree that mega tree looks sweet!

Hi as far as the c7 color changing bulbs see here - this is exactly how they function. No pattern just fades everytime you plug it in. I have them in c9
