Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Hey xmasliteman - we want to help you get there! If you haven't received any responses here yet, I'd be happy to make a post on our Facebook page for you. I wouldn't included your personal info publicly, but would ask folks to contact me directly and I could then pass along your info that way. Let me know if you'd like me to do that. We hope to see you in Mesquite! Janice

    Christmas Expo 2018

Hi! The link is still active because people do cancel and rooms will pop in on our block when that happens. On the backup hotel, it was our understanding that they were going to run the price Sunday - Sunday so we'll check with their business office on Monday. It usually takes them 24-48 hours to update the system so you should be able to check with them again by the middle of next week. Janice

    Christmas Expo 2018

Hi timdks! Zman is correct that the main hotel sold out fairly quickly. The back up hotel is the TownePlace Suites and is right across the street so it's very convenient as well and the rate is the same. You can book online with them to get our rate. See you in Mesquite! Janice

  8. As most have heard already, Christmas Expo will be held in Biloxi this year. We're excited about the location - the city offers lots of options for family entertainment, history buffs, water sports, beaches, casinos and, now, Christmas Expo! I will be pushing out information as soon as it's available - we are setting up a new registration system which should be open in the next couple of weeks and our class lineup is already looking exciting. I tend to post updates on Facebook first, then send out emails to our mailing list so if you're looking for up to date info, follow us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/ChristmasExpo or visit our website at www.ChristmasExpo.com to sign up for the mailing list. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Expo!

    Christmas Expo On Tv

It was an early morning here at Christmas Expo! The local NBC and Fox station, WBIR, did 3 live morning show interviews from the show floor before we opened. Great start to the day!
