Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    Fake trees outdoors?

I have been doing this for years. I always try and buy unlit or if I do buy prelit I remove those lights. I wait after Christmas and buy them when they are 75% off....usually get the 6-7 foot trees for 5 to 10 bucks.....
  2. I concur with xenon, I buy some inflatables after christms for like $10 each at 50% off and harvest the motor assembly throwing the rest away..............................
  3. I have a "hulk" inflatable in which you have to kick the fan every nght to start it.........

    GFP Closing

Was at a local garden center today for their 60% off sale. The manager of the store saw me with my card load of blow molds and I mentined to her that I thought it was the last chance to get them with the closing of GF. She told me that their supplier just informed them that there was a buyer for the GF molds and he expected to sell them blow molds for next Christmas. She said if she got further info she would post it on their web site. Do not know if anyone else is hearing this rumor.....

    I can't figure it out!

Sometimes it is not one item, but a combinaton of a little from each one and the cumulatve affect trips the ground fault. I have had some success redistributing the wires to the outlets when this happens.

    Adapter no longer working

Water gets inside most of these and can cause issues. Sometimes taking them apart and letting them dry out works.

New Way To Repair Holes In Molds?

Sad news. I used to drive by John's house. I was not able to get to it last year, but was headed to that area this Sunday. Christmas in heaven must be a little brighter.

what kind of lights do I need?

depending on the blow mold I use 40W or 60W LED equivalents. They are so cheap right now. I started by using CFLs but since LEDs are now so cheap and the environmental impact of the CFLs I have switched over.

Fast way to add reindeer to the roof

Screws scare me too! I bolt mine to a 2/4 frame and then cabe it to the roof.

    Wire frame deer lights out

I did not use the same on each deer. I accumulated them over the years and they were all in different poses, but it ranged from 4 to 6 sets. These were all older deer, which are much sturderer and robust than the ones made in the last few years.
