Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    Dmx/lor Faults

So I have an issue with what I believe is a cable loss problem, I am running a DMX universe wirelessly from my laptop to my ECG-DR4 and that initially goes to my first dimmer pack, which after that there are 2 more dimmer packs daisy chained together. (keep in mind these are channels 17-20, 21-24 and 25-28) After the 3 dimmer packs is my one and only LOR controller which i made an XLR to LOR ethernet cable. I made the cable twice so I know this is not the cause. Problem: 3rd dimmer pack channels "twinkle/randomly shimmer" when energized. Also another issue is when turning channels on and off with the LOR controller other LOR channels very dimly either stay lit for a bit or they dimly twinkle then fade out. I believe that one issue may be a cable loss issue from the DR4 to the first DMX dimmer pack due to the fact that I have about 50-75 extra feet of ethernet cable just coiled up. Second cause could possibly be that the chain is not terminated, if that is the case then i will either have to run the LOR off of another universe OR run an XLR to LOR cable from the second dimmer then a LOR to XLR to go to the third dimmer pack and then terminate the chain. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! V/r Francis

    Strobe Differences

Awesome, i think i'm getting confused between these strobes and these curtain strobes. is there any difference other than the "curtain strobes" cost about 10x as much? or are they bigger than the first link?

Hey all, Just wondering if there is a difference between E17 base c9 LED strobes and the C9 curtain strobes? IE brightness etc Thanks! Francis

Ok so i'm looking at the E1.31 to dmx bridge and i understand that the ecg-dr4 is for controlling 4 dmx universes, so how would i go from that to dimmer packs? or is there a simpler and cheaper way of getting more channels? Also looking at the PDF from www.auschristmaslighting.com do i even need the AVD USB485RJ-ISO USB - RS485 Converter Isolated 2x RJ45, cause what will that do for me? Would i need the USB485RJ-ISO to ethernet to the ecg-dr4 and then ethernet to this 48 channel controller? or is this totally not possible? one more question is, looking at the PDF there are DC power supplies and it says that the power is injected between strings and modules...do i need to do all of this (which hopefully this is a lot cheaper than buying a lot of 4 channel dimmer packs) if i am just doing regular christmas lights?

Awesome, so all i need to get then is the enttec open usb, and an adapter? now what about the block where it says "connect holidaycoro.com dmx controllers to cat5 DMX output?" does this mean that i still need the 3 channel rgb dmx module, power supply, and usb to ethernet and and then i will be able to control everything from LOR S3?

Hello all, I am trying to get into doing the christmas light show and I currently have 24 channels on 6 different dimmer packs, (I use them for par can lights for my band), planning on picking up more if I can, and I am wondering what I need exactly to control the dimmer packs for the lights from the computer? I have done a lot of looking around and people are saying I need a dongle or a $500 USB-DMX converter, or just a cable that goes from USB to DMX. Should I be worried about latency (even though it may not be noticeable (msec/usec) if i just get the cable? One other thing i was worried about is, I was looking at the Enttec open USB-DMX for about $60, it is 5 pin which i know is the original, but my dimmer packs and all of my other intelligent lighting (which i may use) are only 3 pin, should i be worried about the extra 2 data pins or can i just get a 5-3 adapter? Now with all of that being said, if i do get a cable/dongle/converter or whatever i need what can i use for a program? I was playing around with the LOR demo, and that seems pretty straight forward, but will it be compatible with the dongle/converter? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Francis
