Did you know?
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  3. 2007 EXTREMELY RARE Gemmy Animated Carousel! 7 foot tall 6 foot round!!! HUGE Carousel assembled inside today I turned in on and it still spins!!! NOW for some information!!! I was given a "carnival swing rider's Carousel" that was broken and I was unable to fix it! So I removed the Carousel bars on the old swing and added them to this one so it now accepts 2 kinds of Gemmy Carousel pieces!!! The regular reindeers AND the swing rider's!!! It is assembled 100% correctly and was done very carefully one bar at a time!!! I do not have the swing rider's I only have the regular reindeers! (Swing rider parts end up on eBay and Craigslist from time to time so if you found them and bought them you could use both on the Carousel!!! The reindeer click into the second bar locks to have the Carousel spin in the correct motion! If you attach the reindeer in the first lock it looks like it is spinning backwards!!! For reindeer you only use one lock! For swing rider's you use both!!! The Carousel is in good condition I'd place it at a 7 out of 10 condition wise!!! It does have some fading and some light dirt marks from use and the Carousel rider's have some light yellowing to the White part of them!!! Looks blended though so it looks as if it was made that way!!! That is typical for EVERY used Carousel like this and even sometimes the new ones get like that from being in the box for 7 or 8 years!!! I personally cut the elastic band around the bottom base cover as seen in photo because I liked zip tiring it to the base instead! (The old way use to come off all the time and you could see the base poles using zip ties helps hold the cover on better) for the candy cane striped cover on the top part I attached Velcro to hold it from sliding down like most do!!! The riders on the Carousel from being in a box tightly some of the strings brake off from the rider to the reindeer poll and they tend to flop over kind of! I used clear ties (twist ties) or some fishing line around the waste of the Carousel rider's to the reindeer poll and it supports them MUCH, MUCH better!!! The Carousel is in good working condition though with just some signs of use! they are really nice pieces I've seen new ones sell for almost $700 and used ones sell for up to $500! Photo 8 shows the reindeer locked in and the empty lock for a swing rider...photo 10 shows the band I had cut and zip tied to the base.... Price INCLUDES SHIPPING!!! (Will cost me around $70-$100+) $350 or best offer Please no low ball offer! Will consider Trade plus some cash!!! I an looking for a Gemmy Santa express Carousel or Gemmy original Sam the Snowman with umbrella!!! LAST 2 Photos shown are items I am looking to trade for plus possibly receive some cash as well!!! Please PM me if interested!
