Did you know?
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

Prayers needed

Hey Planet Christmas family,

I come to you all asking that you keep my father in your prayers. He is 74 years old and a severe diabetic and has found out that he is going to have to start dialysis along with just having a cancerous tumor the size of a peach removed from his bladder back before Thanksgiving. We go back on to the Urologist on Monday 1/8/2018 and to the Nephrologist on 1/9/2018.

Was so bad that there was no display this year except for some lights, garland and wreath on the porch. Didn't want to get to heavily decorated and then have the burden of tearing it all down, not knowing if I would be needed to handle everything. Dad hated because I didn't decorate this year because he likes it just as much as I do and he is a BIG help to me with the display. My mom also had open heart surgery (triple by-pass) in September so she cant be doing a lot of pulling and tugging on my father.

Just keep them both in your prayers for me. I have put it in the Lord's hands and asked him to take care of them both for me. All prayer would be appreciated. I will keep everyone posted.

Jerry

Hey Planet Christmas Family,

UPDATE on my fathers health.

Today (January 24, 2018) my family received news that we have been dreading. The last procedure that he had was last Tuesday (January 16, 2018) and the surgeon removed two more smaller tumor from the bladder. Went to the doctor this morning and was told that those two tumors were cancerous also and that these two tumors had grown through the inner lining of the bladder and into the muscle that is between the two linings of the bladder. He said that the bladder HAS to come out to prevent the cancer from spreading any further. When they do the procedure they are going to remove the prostate also at the same time.

I just humbly come to you all asking that you keep my father in your prayers. I have prayed and prayed and have decided to drop all of my lawn cutting customers except for a couple to stay here and help out my mother as much as possible. She cant do it by herself and my brother works two full time jobs already. He seems to be in good spirits right now. No surgery date as of yet but will let you all know when it is. Thanks for the prayers you have sent our way and any more would greatly be appreciated.

Jerry

Hey Planet Christmas Family,

Just an UPDATE on my father. We go tomorrow (Wednesday, February 7, 2018) at 10:30 a.m. for surgery on my father. He is going to have the whole bladder and prostate out at the same time. The doctor says the operation will last 5-6 hours, and there will be two doctors in the operating room when it is done. Just please keep him in your prayers tomorrow if you will. Ill keep you all posted on his progress.

Thanks for all of the previous thoughts and prayers.
