Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Hello all, today driving home from work I saw this snowman sitting outside waiting to be picked up by the trash man (he was 3 houses away!!!!) I quickly made a U-turn and put it in the back of my car. a455554cea2e87d7c2e1fb98767c3d29.jpg7b8457e7a1340a3fcff40c8036b2ee79.jpg

It doesn't have the lights and I don't know any thing about it but i still think it's a good find. Thanks guys and gals

Awesome Union snowman.....you saved him!!!  There are ways to pop that dent out and the members here can tell you how to do it.   I had a similar experience once, but the garbage truck was too fast for me.

How exactly would I repaint him? Is there like a tutorial anywhere?

Hey I would just leave the paint it is perfect trust me the strip and paint process isn't worth it , it costs to much I would just leave the factory paint it's not super faded and looks to be newer

I wouldn't repaint him. He looks perfectly fine there no major paint loss. Just put your finger in that hole and pull toward you if should pop right out. Don't do it when it's cold though.

It might be good to warm it up first.  Maybe put it out in the Sun for a couple hours.

I agree with the others here who have said that your snowman really doesn't need repainting but here's a link for future reference.

You may need to scare up a replacement cord if it doesn't have one.

Why would you repaint it, the paint looks perfect to me. Get a hair dryer and warm up the area where the dent is and just push it out slowly.
