Did you know?
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

LED C9s that Flash

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I have posted this in my local forum but I have posted here to make sure I get an answer. After the mini I have gotten my heart set on getting the controlers set this seaon to turn everything on and off. Next season I will animate. The problem I have is that certain features I want to stay constant such as the roof line and the the border around the yard and driveway. My family and I love the look for C9s and love them flashing. I have not been able to find C9 LEDs that flash. I have seen them before at commercial displays such as Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Does anyone know where I can get them? I have looked online everywhere but alas no luck. Has anyone stumbled across them?

Your right they are cool but I'm looking for something along the lines of the traditional flasher bulbs you can get from the big box stores but LEDs. I swear I would have an easier time finding a needle in a needle stack.

Would there be a problem with getting Dimmable C9 retro bulbs. Hook the string up to a controller and then make that channel twinkle or hand program the on and off states? Then later when you animate in the future you already have the channel there and the lights wired to the controller, all you will have to do is seqence the channel.

I thought about that but when you plug a string into the channel and have that channel twinkle, the whole string will twinkle.

Yea thats them. The price is a lot more then I was expecting but yea. $50 for a box of 25... I have probably close to 400 C9s in the display so I dont even want to begin to think of the cost to replace them all.
