YES! Celtic version of "Il Es Ne, Le Divin Enfant".
I heard it on a local station, WMNF, 88.5, two years ago on their Thursday "Musicof the Isles" show. Unfortunatly it was a guest host and no posted playlist.
The song is sung by females accompanied by a very strong percussion, almost marshal. I have "Googled" and "Amazoned" 183 versions of the tune. Not that one yet.
Any Irish fans out there?
Thanks,
Ed

Hey Ed,
Let me know if you find it, I took a look and only saw 1 or 2 Celtic groups that I am aware of listed. I'll check my collection when I get home just to make sure.
Chuck thanks for the rhapsody link! I was not aware of that site either.
Holland, thanks for the thread!!!

Word of warning. I'd be really careful about posting something about getting songs for people as sharing of music is Illegal and can get you in a ton of trouble.
Here's a recent issue someone had. The penalty was $22,500 per song.

You may want to have this post removed.
Of course if you are just sending links where people can purchase the songs themselves you're ok.

I used to be into pirate BBS's and newsgroups used to be considered just about next to legal before digital copyright laws were updated in late 90's. We used to have this thing in the 1980's and 1990's that a BBS or telnet site, newsgroups, etc could be declared a non-profit library and exempt from prosecution or lawsuit, but this changed in the late 90's.
Now I understand just providing links to other people's pirate files can carry with it some "culpability" so might want to be careful. The latest thing people do is place the songs on sites located in countries that do not have copyright laws (China, Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia) and therefore its legal in those locations and cant be forced to take down the pirate file, but they prosecute western people who organize and use links to these locations.

im pretty sure that walmart who i find stuff for people there is not considered directing them to pirated material.

Thanks to all who have offered suggestions. No, it is not the "CelticWomen." It is far too rough for that. It is similar in caddence to the version done by the Chieftons but by female vocalist and, once again, just a little bit more rough.
I have listened to HUNDREDS of versions of the song by various artist. I guess that once I find the right one I will have to feature it as my headliner, lol. Meanwhile my best bet is to hound the DJ at the radio station until he looks it up.
Thanks All,

Hey I tell you what I'd be interested in is some current day Tektonik Christmas songs.
You probably arent too familar with the tektonik dance crazy in Europe. It started in France a couple years ago and spreading all over the world except in the USA. Watching the dance is interesting although I dont think it would take on too well in the USA because too many shy people and the tektonik dance results in you being the center attraction in a night club or dance floor, but the music is awesome. I listen to Paris FM stations via internet all the time because its really cool music (and mostly sung in English too).

Hey Joe,
Man that sounds cool and no I have not heard of it either, got any band names we could get a sample from?
I'm kind of big on the Symphonic Metal crazy out of Finland, Google Epica for samples Cation to you though some songs do have that guttural scream metal is now famous for. I'm not to big on those but the others are pretty good and reminds me of trans Siberian a bit.
Internet is kind of neat where it allows us to peek into other countries a bit more these days huh.

Well I understand rap and hip hop have gone down in flames badly outside of the USA, people world wide are ready for a new genre but it persists here in the USA. That is expected because, well there arent American style black ghetos in Europe or Asia, integration is 40 years ahead of the USA in those places so even blacks in France just do not identify with American rap/hip hop. Its kind of a neo punk/80's thing, in fact I understand the popularity of mohawks and their recent come back started in France and is part of the tecktonik movement.
There are so many songs but one that comes to mind very popular with tecktonik style is Daf Punk like with Taller, better, faster stronger... the song was unheard of in USA but topped charts overseas... it got a second chance last year when a rap star remixed his rhymes over the top of the Daf Punk song and in my opinion, ruined it.

Let me tell you something, we discovered these european radio stations you can tune into via internet and its fantastic, everyone I know over the age of 35 trip out over the music after hearing it and want to tune in themselves but there is some really good stuff especially in France these days and its mostly songs in English. Listen to this station some, its certainly a great Paris France radio station. A lot of my neighbors love the music and ask me to rebroadcast it on my Christmas transmitters so they can tune in, especially on Friday/Sat night or for parties, BBQ's etc.
Check this out some:
http://player.nrj.fr/V4/nrj/webradios/index_V2.html?webradio=extravadance','nrjdance','w idth=890,height=711,top=5,left=5'))
There is a bunch of stuff at www.listenlive.eu
Its not like it used to be, many great international radio stations come in HD radio quality with no stutters like we used to get a couple years ago.

I have this version and it's one of the best. The 'New Christy Minstrels' have a version in English. Not as strong but still good.
