Well, we knew it was coming, but it still happened too fast.

Our beloved kitty "Moo Cow" (http://www.fischersplace.com/Photos/moocow.htm)(so named by a previous owner due to her Holstein-like coloring) passed on across the Rainbow Bridge tonight, just about an hour ago.

I got her back in 1995 when I was in grad school, from another guy who I shared an office with who was having landlord issues.

Perhaps our most happy surprise with Moo was how well she got along with William, our son. She has never liked kids, but even as William was an infant, she'd curl up with Cathy as she was feeding the baby and they'd share her lap. As he got a little older, even a few tugs on the tail were tolerated without much fuss.

Moo has been dealing with Chronic Renal Failure for some time, and in the last month or so, has been struggling. We're not sure, but we estimate her to have been 15-17 years old. She will be missed.

Tim, sorry to hear about your loss. Our cat was brought to us from Moline Illinois while my son was up there playing hockey for the Quad City Mallards in 1997. They wouldn't let him keep the cat in his apartment, so we had to take him, and he's been with us ever since. The cat had to ride on the team bus to Michigan and we took him home to Canada after the game. The hockey team wanted to adopt him as a mascot, but that idea kindagot quashedreally quickly :D.

He was born in 1996, which now makes him around 56 years old, in human years. I'm also dredding the day. So far, he's pretty healthy.

Here's a chart that I like to refer to. Hope this is helpful to others with older cats.

My deepest sympathy.

Ken Gelinas.

I know how you feel I lost my cat a few years ago to the same thing. My vet felt bad about it also, Then a month later they found a stray the first person they called was me. Here it is 2.5 years later and she is sleeping next to the keyboard.

Very interesting name and a neat cat, I can see that she will be missed. It is rough to lose a member of the family.

Tim,

I'm very sorry to hear about Moo Cow (that's such a cute name). Cats really do become a true member of the family, and they have such personalities. I know you will miss him immensely.:(

Tim...

I'm sorry she is gone...but you can be safe in knowing she is not suffering...she looks so sweet...she will be missed....

I had an older cat that passed about 2 yrs ago now...she was 19 yrs old when she passed...I got her from a lady who was going into the nursing home and had to give up her two cats...I wanted one of the pair and had to take them both...well the one I wanted ran out the door one night never to be seen again...but Tasha turned out to be the best comapanion you could ask for...when my mom was dying she stayed by her side day and night...mom got alot of joy from that...

Hi Tim...

I'm feeling very sad for you about your loss. I have gone through this 4 times in the last 9 years so I know how you feel. Cats are special people and their memories are special too. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of each one of them and wish they were still with me.

Tim,

Sorry to hear about MooCow. She was very lucky to have spent many years with you and your family. I'm sure you gave her the best love and care a cat could ever want, and that's what is most important.

Tim,

I know your whole family is very sad today. I remember when my dog, Toby died. My 5 year old son cried and cried. He's 12 now. My one year old daughter, Katie kept asking where's BoBo? We would all shed a tear when she said that.

A new pet will help ease the pain and lose.
