As some of you remember from the old OT room. I had an interview at Menards that I was waiting to hear back from them about the results. After calling them for three weeks, and never hearing anything back, I moved on!

Well, I'm happy to say that I'm now employed by Lowes, in the best dept. in the store!! Yep, seasonal, and lawn & garden. I will do my best to keep you all informed as to what I hear!

And, of course, we would greatly appreciate any discounts you can throw our way, old buddy, old pal.

I hope (for you) Lowe's gives better discounts than Home Depot. I was on a flight a while back and set next to a guy that worked for HD. He said they get 10% off and only once a quarter. Pretty pitiful...

Thats great!

I also got a job at a collision repair place. It is great learning alot, however I dont get any lights and they probably wont give me a deal but it is fun!

I can't wait to see the managers face when you ask "can I but out all of you stock of lights on my employee discount?"

Congratulations, Joel. My daughter works part-time at Lowes, while she is going to school, and I get to carry her discount card around. As long as she lives at home, the parent's can use the discount, also. Has saved me lots of money, since I am always building and remodeling things.

Awesome, Zac! I should have taken my car up to you last summer. Needed a door and a windshield replaced!

As far as discounts go, I'm not exactly sure! I haven't exactly started yet, I have training next weekend, but I'll have to ask! 75% + Employee's discount?? I can take that! Some LED's maybe?? I think my parents would approve!

Right now I'll be saving up money in time for the LOR sale next month... I can't wait!

Darryl,

HD is geared more to the contractor in mind and Lowes is geared more towards the homeowner in mind. Just look at the inside of the store, which one is a more pleasant place to shop? If HD gave a big discount to all employees the evry contractor in the area would be a part time employee to get a discount and then there goes HD's profit margin. I know I would have done it.

Very good, Joel. The seasonal dept and L/G at Lowes get a fair chunk of my paycheck year round. (As does the tool dept. and lumber, and.....)

I'm dying to know what that discount might be. Maybe I'll apply for a weekend part time job. They can keep the check. Give me stuff instead!

It will be interesting to hear your insights since you will be on the front line.

Congrats, may the light be with you...

I am semi retired and was offered a job yesterday to go to Haiti with a disaster relief team for 60 to 90 days. Pay is $200.00 a day every day your are there. I am not going to give up my part time job and come home to no job. Besides, I have a lot of sequences to do for my first year. The guy also is trying to get us to sign up for something called ACN. It is not my type of thing either.

My question is does the member who posted this thread still have this job? Is that the reason that it was brought up from the grave Ed??
