View Full Version : Motorized props in a tree

So I was thinking. I could get several ghosts or skeletons for Halloween, and I dunno, maybe snowflakes or ornaments for Christmas. Not too big of course. String them to a motor in a tree and use LOR to raise and lower them at certain points during sequnces and in a sense hide them in view. I know during Christmas there are no leaves of course, but I think this would work during halloween. Any thoughts from anyone? I know I would need some pulleys and either good fishing line or nylon string. Then something to pull all the string together before they wrap around a pulley. Or right there bet they should use seperate pulleys. I know this is kind of out there, but you never know, it might work out in the end. Thanks for any comments and help!

Start by checking out the Flying Crank Ghost. (http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=flying+crank+ghost)
Now, rather than using a motor to continuously raise/lower the ghost, use a servo to control the movement.
This should work great with LOR and allow you to position the ghost at various heights at will.

Chuck's right. A flying crank ghost mechanism would work good with lor. The only problem will be with timing and knowing if your prop is in the up or down position. Eventually you will lose sink and it will require re-sinking. You could probably get by with just a once a day re-sink, depending on the quantity of cycles.
