Why can't you? Anyhow I wanted to see how the people in my area would react to lights flashing to music, so instead of going out and spending a wack of cash on LOR or any other professional light controllers.... I bought a GE Lights and Sounds of Christmas box and used that as part of my test.
So I left the roof line and the front of the house static and in the front yard I plugged in my ash tree, my 5 bushes, 3 mini trees, 4 deer, the other perimeter of the yard and the flower beds into the GE Lights and Sounds of Christmas ..... and I did get response ....half of the the people like the lights static and half liked the lights flashing to music.
So now I know what to expect from my neighbors and so I intend to keep a static display ( roof line, garage, sides and front of house edges) and a flashing light display in the front yard using my 32 channel Animated light controllers and 24 songs (so far) My ash tree....5 channels , my 5 new bushes... 5 channels, the other 5 bushes... 5 channels , the perimeter lights....1 channel, and 7 minis...7 channels, and 5 channels are to be used for lights flashing on the flat surface of the front wall of the house. Oh and 4 channels for 4 deer. There you have 32 channels. I do want 15 more channels but perhaps that wont happen this year.
My nativity stays static as well.

You can definally pull this off, with half computerized and half static. Your yard is perfect for this.

The great thing about decorating is you are only limited by your imagination. We have a computerized display and a static display both. We have a large side yard that we do a Santa's workshop theme in the middle of a forest of trees with deer, polar bears, elf's and we even have a bull moose and a small elephant. Then our house is computerized, with basically everyting in the yard computerized but the house, landscaping and nativity stay static, this way when a song is finished thers no black void in the display.Look your yard over and just have fun.

You can do whatever you want - it is your display & your imagination! Have fun with it.
We have parts of our display that stay static and the majority is computerized. We love it both ways.
